Ahtutu has made the difficult decision to close Ahtutu as a UK Registered Charity so please disregard the number quoted on the bottom of this page.  (For technical reasons it is not possible to edit this: a new website will be created towards the end of the year.)

Trustees have met to take this step for the following reasons:

~ Because of the ongoing civil war it is not safe for us to take groups to Myanmar to teach and carry out projects – the fundamental reasons for the charity;
~ We cannot evidence the impact we are making and this makes raising money in the UK much more difficult;
~ Losing Kate, the trustee who organised taking the Napier students to Myanmar so successfully, has dealt us a huge blow in terms of her interest and input and has closed off the very useful route to having appropriate young people on our teams; and
~ None of our trustees is getting any younger: we are all over 70 and some of us almost 75 years old.
The funds we held to restart projects will be used for a standalone project managed by KMSS Pathein and to continue the work we did in Phan Khar Gone village’s Pre-School Nutrition Programme.
However our reporting work and any direct online teaching will continue and friendships and interest in the country and its people will continue.

Ahtutu has been posting updates concerning Myanmar since the military coup took place on 1st February 2021.
